Public Information Film

What is public information film?

A series of government commissioned short films which are shown during advertising breaks on television in the UK.

Who are the producing institutions?
Government, Britain's COI

What is the purpose of a public information film?
To advise the public on what to do in certain situations regarding safety, although it can also concern the topics of animal cruelty, protecting the environment, crime preventation and how to vote in an election or fill in a census form.

What are audience expectations?
A formative broadcast in which portrays relevant information regarding issues within today's society. This would create awareness as the audience would have learnt something that could impact strongly on their life.
